Eastern Cape, South Africa

Elephants Addo Elephant ParkThe Eastern Cape just like the other provinces in South Africa is filled with the rich history that is prominent in Southern Africa. This is where the most battles were fought against the settlers. One of the outstanding wars was the battle of 1170 against the Afrikaner Trek Boers and the British. The evidence of these historic wars is still visible in some parts of the Eastern Cape, there are still buildings that were used by the Afrikaners and the British to protect themselves from the fierce Xhosas.

The Eastern Cape is predominately occupied by the Xhosa tribe with their remarkable culture. The region is known because of its absolute tranquility and relaxation which is amoungst the best South Africa has to offer. Its biodiversity is unmatched in Southern Africa. The Wild and the Sunshine Coasts are the best beaches in the world.

The region is also known of its adventure, which includes the only ski resort in South Africa. The wildlife drives on the game reserves present one with the chance of seeing the big five. Its notable attractions are the educational Nelson Mandela Museum in Umtata, the Addo Elephant National park and the incredible Hole in the Wall in Coffee Bay.

The region boasts of comfortable guest houses, safari lodges to luxurious and opulent hotel accommodation.
