Limpopo was originally named the Northern Transvaal but at the turn of the century it changed to Limpopo because the Limpopo River is the prominent feature of the province. The Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park is one of the tourist attractions in Southern Africa this is a joint initiative with Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa. This park allows the tourist to drive across three Southern Africa borders within the boundaries of the park.
