Western Cape, South Africa

Table Mountain in Cape TownThe magnitude of the Western Cape's beauty is too great for only a few words. The majestic mountain ranges, fynbos, winelands and two oceans all in one package is one of the greatest tourist attractions in South Africa. There is too much to do and too much to see for a short visit, as the history is rich and the culture laid back. The Indian and the Atlantic Oceans meet just offshore of this superb green stretch of land, and there are beautiful white beaches, rocky cliffs and white dunes.

The Garden Route which starts in the Western Cape, travels through the Klein Karoo, a semi-desert, to the green forests and coastal areas of Knysna, Wilderness, Tsitsikamma and George. Cape Town is known as the Mother City, and is home to a large number of tourist attractions, whether the architecture, the natural beauty, the white beaches of Clifton or the Wine Route.

The tourist activities are various and diverse, and include 4x4 trails, hiking, bird watching, horse riding, shopping in cosmopolitan surrounds, or just relaxing on perfect unspoilt beaches. The weather is mediteranean with summers that are warm and wet and windy winters, ideal for snuggling next to a fire with a glass of quality Cape wine is a real treat!

The accommodation options are practically unlimited; world class hotels, luxurious lodges, self catering, game and wine farms, to name only a few.
